Administration Support Officer - working 30 hours per week dayshift. This is a permanent position working in a Band 3 role.


We are looking for a competent and professional person for our Emergency Department at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.

This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week.


You will be expected to provide an efficient service and aid the smooth running of the Emergency Department by providing Administrative Support to the Medical Team and Administrative Team.


You will be responsible for stock and managing the procurement of medical and administrative supplies for the Emergency Department and keeping the stock levels optimised at all times.


Deal with enquires from patients and the general public as well as the medical staff in the department and will provide cover for the receptionists within the Emergency Care Collaborative.


Effectively and efficiently check stock and manage procurement of medical/administrative supplies for the Emergency Department, which includes processing orders using the Trust System (NEP Cloud) and checking that stock levels are optimised at all times.

Appropriately check and organise supplies following deliveries.

Maintain and update stock information on the departmental database, implementing/improving processes and procedures where necessary.

Input data accurately in to hospital systems.

Liaise between health care professionals and members of the Emergency Department Team for new investigation requests.

Maintain understanding of the procedures, systems, waiting lists, etc. carried out within the department.

Assist with audits being undertaken in the department.

Assist other Administration Staff within the Emergency Department.

Cover sickness/leave of SDEC reception and cover lunch breaks on A&E reception when required.

Undertake receptionist duties within the department including booking patients in to clinic and ED. Maintaining accurate records. Arranging follow up appointments where necessary.

Attend and participate in departmental meetings.

£18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

£38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
