Role Overview
The Business Performance Lead is a direct report to the Business Support Manager - Operations.

The role will deliver a comprehensive finance business partnering service for Operations, incorporating business performance monitoring (both financial and non-financial), business decision making support and key business challenge.

Work will involve providing quality and timely MI, to ensure robust financial performance monitoring, planning and forecasting.


Working with the Operational teams across the business you will also be required to identify and communicate key financial risks and opportunities.

Analytical support will be required to provide business insight to inform business decision making.


Functional Responsibilities/Key Tasks

  • Deliver a comprehensive finance business partnering service across Operations, incorporating financial business performance monitoring, business decision making support and key business challenge;
  • Ownership for the provision of quality financial data, reporting Management Information packs aligned to key stakeholders and their areas of budget responsibility. Management Information packs will be tailored to each stakeholder and follow the Principles of Performance Management Monitoring. This includes "return to green" plans and updating and maintaining action trackers;
  • Ownership of Profit and Loss for relevant business areas with a focus on business drivers, key messages, and mitigations to manage any adverse variances whilst challenging performance and driving profitability;
  • Provision of financial support for Contract Variations ensuring that financial information is accurate, relevant and provided in the appropriate level of detail to satisfy the Client. Contractual reporting and analysis to support key revenue generating contracts including CHFS (plus any other contract as required);
  • Support the successful delivery of the Annual Plan / Budget for the business area(s) your support is aligned too, which will include planning, coordination and communication across operational business areas and other key stakeholders;
  • Ensure the integrity of financial results for the business area(s) your support is aligned too;
  • Work collaboratively with budget holders to ensure monthly variances to plans are understood and any future risk & opportunity to the full year forecast is quantified on a monthly basis;
  • Communicate to a range of stakeholders and prepare information in a format suitable for presentation to Executive Team members, plus any other stakeholders as required, ensuring the correct level of information provided is tailored to the audience;
  • Adhoc analysis as required to support the Financial Controller/Finance Director or the Business;
  • Adopt a continuous improvement mindset to all aspects of work
