Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and passionate synthetic organic chemist to join our growing Medicinal Chemistry team as a Research Associate at our Oxford site.
As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to expand your expertise in drug design as well as gaining a deeper knowledge of the holistic drug discovery process through interactions with colleagues across multiple disciplines in our research labs.
We have a supported training and development program to help you grow your career and develop as a scientist within the pharmaceutical industry.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and execution of multistep syntheses to target molecules, optimizing and troubleshooting methods to deliver sufficient quantities for biological testing.
- Interpretation of experimental data, from analytical techniques, with a high degree of independence, reliability and accuracy
- Exercise good judgement and time management skills to prioritize work, considering synthetic feasibility and project impact
- Present and share data within the team and to the chemistry department as a whole.
Key Skills:
- Thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of synthetic organic chemistry (synthesis, purification, and analytical characterization)
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication and time management skills
- Demonstrate high levels of health and safety awareness, personal integrity and ethics
- Uptodate knowledge of modern organic chemistry literature
- An appreciation of medicinal chemistry and/or automated chemical synthesis
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent degree) in Chemistry
