Wood is recruiting for a Materials Controller on a core basis, starting in June, on a 2/2/2/4 rotation.


Basic Purpose of Job:

  • To manage the movement, storage and control of all materials and equipment to and from site in accordance with all legislative requirements.

Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with the Client's HS&E policy, procedures and Safety Management System.
  • Comply with all relevant Wood HS&E policies and procedures where appropriate.
  • Actively participate and support all Client and Wood Group Health, Safety & Environmental plans, initiatives and improvements.
  • Carry out all activities in accordance with ISSOW including the following:
  • Comprehensive and detailed Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks
  • Stop and reasses any job where change is identified
  • Work preparation
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents.
  • Carry out Emergency Response duties in accordance with Company / Client's requirements.
  • Maintain and control Safety Equipment.

Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities of Role:

  • Mark-up all large / heavy oncoming cargo making it clear to the deck-foreman of its final location.
  • Ensure all other material and equipment is checked on arrival prior to being taken to a dedicated locked storage area.
  • Be the responsible dedicated key holder for the stores and any external storage areas.
  • Ensure the stores and any external storage areas are locked at all times and be present when any items are being taken from external storage areas.
  • Issue tools and equipment from the main store hatch only as there is to be strictly no general admittance into the main stores without the Services Supervisor approval.
  • Log relevant workorder numbers and recipient names when issuing tools and equipment.
  • Backload High Rental Equipment ASAP after completion of work.
  • Ensure material traceability and tracking is kept up to date and to a very high standard.
  • Monitor and maintain supplies and platform stock levels.
  • Order all materials required to satisfy operational requirements.
  • Ensure all material and equipment purchased delivers the best value, seeking the necessary approvals where appropriate.
  • Prepare equipment for transport and complete documentation in accordance with the relevant regulations for shipment of goods.
  • Conduct inventory control and stock checks and minimise inventory where appropriate.
  • Responsible for effective control of backload and offhiring process.
  • Take responsibility for the management of the HAVS system.
  • Provide accurate information to planning processes to support delivery of work plans.
  • Whenever possible provide relevant cost information and reports to site department to enable accurate budget control.
  • Update and maintain the materials management system when required.
  • Ensure comprehensive records and logs are maintained and effective handovers are carried
out at shift and crew change.

  • Identify and propose ideas and solutions that will increase efficiency in cost or time without loss of integrity and present idea(s) to management.
  • Support and improve own and team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices and actively participating in supervisory workshops.
  • Participate in Wood competence scheme including any multi skilled element in accordance with relevant competence framework.
  • Adopt a flexible working attitude to provide support across all departments to ensure team success.
  • Create, maintain & enhance effective working relations and identify and minimise interpersonal conflict.
  • Maintain effective communication with all work colleagues at all levels.
  • Maximo experience essential
  • Dangerous Goods by Air & Sea certification
  • COSHH Awareness
  • Manual Handling Awareness
  • CMMS User
  • Oil and gas experience desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to enforce procedures
  • Self motivated
