Head Chef who is passionate about creating innovative dishes that incorporate fresh local produce.

The Woodberry Inn is a traditional free house that offers an authentic atmosphere blended with a touch of modern luxury.

It is owned and was proudly restored by two local families in 2015.

Over 18 months the venue was sympathetically remodelled, with oakflooring, leather seating, log burners, 8 en-suite individually styled bedrooms and an inviting beer garden, along with a recent addition of a hand crafted 'Oak Room' offering guests the opportunity to enjoy outside dining.


The venue has built a fantastic reputation locally, with home cooked, fresh food served from a seasonally changing menu and weekly specials board.

The popularity of their 70-seat restaurant continues to grow. They are now looking for a
Head Chef to organise, manage, lead and inspire their kitchen team.


About the Role:

The ideal person will have team spirit, a 'can do' attitude and kitchen management experience.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Be responsible for menu creation and development including seasonal menu changes and daily specials.
  • Coordinate with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget and kitchen efficiency and staffing.
  • Source suppliers and monitor & control purchases and stock holding levels.
  • Leads Kitchen team in a professional manner, with a leading by example/from the front attitude.
  • Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including line cooking, food preparation and dish plating.
  • Work in a calm and professional manner and support the kitchen staff to reflect this in their work.
  • Responsible for ensuring all statutory documentation and general departmental paperwork is kept up to date.
  • Produce a weekly departmental rota, ensuring the kitchen is staffed to the appropriate level inline with the business needs.
  • Oversee and organise kitchen stock and ingredients.
  • Ensure first in, first out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organised for quality assurance.
  • Keep cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours.
  • Supervise all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards are met.
  • Work with the whole kitchen team to maintain kitchen organisation, staff ability and champion training opportunities.
  • Verify that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well managed.
  • Ensure The Woodberry Inn, meets and exceeds customer expectations and requests wherever possible.
