About us

Community Action Suffolk (CAS) is a well-established and highly regarded infrastructure organisation for the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector.

Our mission is to strengthen and champion community action in Suffolk by supporting the VCFSE sector in its work.

About the role

We are seeking a Project Officer for a new project, _Talking About Cancer Together_ - which is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support.

The project aims to increase awareness of support and services available both locally and nationally to those affected by cancer, including but not limited to Macmillan.

The role would suit an experienced project manager/coordinator.

You will need to be a flexible communicator able to support a wide range of people from established organisations to small local community groups, both individually and collectively.

As a dedicated point of contact for VCFSE organisations and groups within Suffolk, you will provide the sector access to a range of cancer related information, resources and support.

You will work closely with the Project Officer in Norfolk (employed by Community Action Norfolk) and the Macmillan Engagement Lead for Suffolk & Norfolk to ensure aligned activity, consistent advice and sharing of best practice across the two counties.

Based on sector needs, you will be responsible for devising and delivering engagement activities helping to increase confidence in talking about cancer and building awareness of support available.

Frequent travel around the county is required so an ability to travel within Suffolk or further afield is necessary.

We are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, or on commencement of post.

What we offer
You will work within a reputable charity which offers its employees benefits which include:

  • Blended working
  • A mix of office and home working
  • 33 days (FTE) paid holiday which includes an allowance for bank holidays

  • 2 days (pro rata) volunteering days
