The service at North Bristol Trust based at Southmead Hospital provides a full range of obstetricservices across North Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

The maternity department, one of the largest in the country, was awarded 'Good' by the CQChas more than 6,300 births each year offering women the choice of 4 places of birth.

These include a Consultant led Obstetric Unit with 2 HDU rooms, 9 birthing rooms and a pool room. An extensive maternal medicine services, including Perinatal Mental Health and Complex Care team and a Fetal Medicine Service.
There is an Alongside Midwifery Unit, a Freestanding Midwifery Unit at Cossham Hospital, and Home Birth Team.
Our services are renowned nationally and internationally, having developed PROMPT and a wide research portfolio.

Our NBTeXtra bank midwives are valued members of our team and have access to exceptional benefits, full training and induction support including 20 supernumeraryhours.

NBTeXtra offer flexible working patterns to meet your needs, offering earlies, lates, long days and nights with competitive rates. There may also be the opportunity to block book shifts, depending on the needs of the service.
