Job Description:


  • Reports to a Junior Account Manager (JAM)/Account Manager (AM), Account Director and Associate Director
  • The Account Executive's primary responsibility is to service clients under the direction of the Account Manager / Account Director.
  • They are responsible for delivering positive PR coverage for their accounts
Key Responsibilities
Client Management

  • Be a day to day contact for clients, responsible for updating them on coverage results
  • Flag any client issues to the Account Manager, Account Director or Company Director
  • Have an understanding of client satisfaction levels and make an effort to anticipate how satisified clients are
  • Play a part in preparing for client meetings, helping to compile contact reports, agendas and presentations, and may present in meetings
  • Maintain a good understanding of a client's business, new developments in the market/industry sector and monitor the relevant media to ensure news within the sector is picked up and shared with the team
  • Contribute to delivering results vs. targets, flagging any possibility of underdelivery to the Account Manager / Account Director
Team Work

  • They will support Junior Account Executives, providing support and advice, and escalating issues or development needs to Account Managers where necessary
  • AEs should manage their own workload thoroughly and effectively, flagging to Account Managers when it looks like things are not going to get done, or if it looks like targets are not going to be met
Strategy and Planning

  • Pay attention to the team's actions for the week for their accounts and action those against their name to deadline
  • Monitor coverage vs. targets and flag any problems with PR/social media strategy implementation or delivery against targets to Account Managers
  • Contribute to the development of PR and social media strategies and proposals
  • The AE assists the Account Manager in delivering the PR and social media strategies, with a focus on implementation of tasks, e.g. media lists, writing press releases, selling in, but does this to a high standard.
PR Skills

  • Check for media coverage and update coverage tables on a daily basis
  • Create and maintain media lists for clients, ensuring all relevant publications are included
  • Proactively sell in stories and products to media at the appropriate times (e.g. 10am 12noon and 24.30pm), accurately and professionally updating sell in spreadsheets with notes from these calls
  • Secure media coverage for clients
  • Keep on top of the news, including reading the trade press (when appropriate) and national media to build an awareness of wider issues, and also articulate a broader understanding of media news values and the wider issues at play surrounding clients' sectors
  • AEs produce a good standard of work at all times. They demonstrate attention to detail and proof read their work to remove the possibility of careless errors
  • Draft press releases, features, case studies and blogs with mínimal typos
  • Write to an accurate and professional level, using appropriate tone and language to suit each client, their industry and audience
  • Identify relevant proactive media opportunities, also recommend strong news ideas, recommendations or synopses for these opportunities
  • Monitor all journalist queries, identifying relevant opportunities, flagging them to the team and responding to them within their deadlines
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with appropriate members of the media
  • Their verbal presentation skills will be of a good standard
  • Their written English, accuracy and ability to structure press releases will be of a good standard
  • They will understand the OneEval measurement process
  • Take part in newsjacking activity, every week, for every client unless told otherwise ensuring their own and junior members of the team's daily media monitoring is happening, and using this to identify opportunities to place comments, reangle existingnews stories or creating new stories (of any kind) which are both relevant to emerging news events and tie into the client's objectives and overall strategy
Finance and Budgets

  • Make Account Directors aware of any boughtin costs which need to be invoiced, as soon as they are incurred/booked
  • Provide accurate quotes to be provided to clients, with the appropriate amount of markup
New Business

  • Attend networking events, seminars and conferences representing the agency, including outofhours, as required in order to maintain personal professional development and to build networking skills, contacts and new business contacts
  • The AE will assist with the development of small sections of PR proposals and may take part in new pitch presentations, under the direction of senior staff
Agency Knowledge and Ambassadorship

  • Understand and be able to explain the agency's offering and USPs
  • Understand the services offered through our close agency partners, including SEO, PPC and design
  • Represent the agency, presenting a professional and informed outlook at all times
