The Role

Summer Placement - Junior Graphic Designer

Base Location:

Salary:
£23,422 per annum pro rata

We're looking for an up and coming graphic designer to join our team and play their part in the fight against climate change.

As one of the brand guardians for SSE plc, the Junior Graphic Designer plays a key role in supporting the Senior Designer and wider team in creating on brand materials for colleagues across the organisation.

They will be passionate about delivering excellent creative artwork and assets, ensuring that all materials adhere to brand guidelines.

With experience in digital and print media, they will bring data, text, photos and graphics together to make high quality products that can be delivered in a range of formats which enhance existing or new external and internal communications.


You will have responsibility for:

Brand Management
Brand ambassador and guardian - ensure any projects receive high quality assets that meet the SSE Brand Guidelines.

  • Working closely with the Senior Graphic Designers, Events team and Brand and Advertising Manager to deliver a firstclass design service to SSE and its business units.

Design Management**- Interpreting written briefs to create engaging design concepts, graphics and artwork for various medias including reports, publications, the web, social media, videos, presentations etc.

  • Develop artwork to support internal engagement and external brand advertising and employer brand campaigns
  • Support the delivery of brand identity design projects, including the refresh of corporate assets through to development of branded templates.
  • Collaborate with other team members to evaluate design concepts and share knowledge and experience in order to push boundaries of service offering.

About our Business


Our Corporate Affairs, Regulation & Strategy (CARS) function combines three quite separate but intrinsically linked businesses, with a shared focus on advising, influencing, and communicating SSE's strategy and interests with key stakeholders.

This involves the interpretation of complex political and regulatory changes, skilled lobbying to inform the future energy ecosystem, and innovative communication techniques to ensure SSE's story is reached by a broad range of audiences including investors, competitors, governments, partners, suppliers, communities, and both current and prospective employees.

The Brand and Design team play a pivotal role in shaping and maintain SSE's visual identity and brand experience, whilst being responsible for our brand strategy and implementation of our visual identity across the SSE group.


What do I need?

To be successful you will:

Have experience in using a range of design packages including, but not limited to, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop etc (Other packages advantageous) Have the ability to use your own initiative, creativity and positive mind set towards work Be able to work independently and as part of a team Enjoy working on a variety of projects and being flexible.

Have an understanding of technical processes e.g. print asset creation.
