Description
We are currently looking for a Costs Lawyer / Costs Draftsman to join our team here at Simpson Millar.

So why should you want to join us?

Well if you're 2 years+ experienced Costs Lawyer then we think that we can offer you personal development, promotion and career progression - somewhere you can learn from very experienced Costs specialists and really hone your trade in this specialist area.

We have a small but genuinely friendly and hard-working team who are all keen to work together to achieve the best results possible and provide a genuinely high-quality service.

But this small team is part of a national law firm, so you get the best of both worlds - a friendly team who all know each other and work towards a common goal where you're going to get hands on experience from an early stage, but with the backing of a growing and well capitalised law firm.

In addition, the role is open to a fully remote working opportunity - although if you want to spend time in the office then you can be based from any of our office across the country.

The role will involve:

  • Drafting Bills of Costs
  • Drafting Costs Budgets
  • Drafting N260 Statements of Costs
  • Providing costs advice to clients
  • Negotiating Bills and Budgets with Opposition Parties
  • Preparing Points of Dispute and Replies
  • Attending Court for Costs Management Hearings and Detailed Assessment Hearings
  • Preparing and filing Part 8 and Interim Payment Applications

You'll also have experience of using CostsMaster / idraft software and if you hold membership of the Association of Costs Lawyers then that would be great, but it's not essential.

If you can bring the experience we need, alongside the desire to develop your skills and progress, then you can expect a salary in the region of £38,000 - £42,500 plus benefits.

So, if the above sounds like you, then we'd like to hear from you. Either click the link below to apply, or otherwise if you want to talk through your experience and find out a little more, then please feel free to call Peter Murphy (Recruitment Business Partner) on
