We are looking for an Assistant Production Manager to work in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, where you will play a vital role in assisting the Production Managers in our outstanding theatres in Stratford-upon-Avon to ensure that final designs are deliveredwithin budgetary, financial and logístical limits.

What will I be doing?

  • Help to ensure design and directing teams are fully aware of the parameters of the brief and that agreed 'milestones' are effectively communicated.
  • Assist in managing the production process from design through construction to finish and delivery to the stage.
  • Liaise with Producers and Sales and Ticketing on any design related sightline issues.
  • Liaise with Technical Department and HOD's to ensure that required staffing levels are met and specific skills identified at an early stage for the efficient get In, fitup, rehearsal and running of assigned projects.
  • Help to ensure that all production related matters arising from Fit-Up and technical rehearsals are efficiently dealt with.
  • Take a proactive role in the delivery of the company's environmental goals.
  • Assist in managing the outsourcing of work where commercially appropriate and viable.
  • Deputise for the Production Managers as required.
What do I need?

  • Experience working in a theatre production environment
  • Effective communication skills
  • Health and Safety trained, including undertaking risk assessments.
  • Experience of budget setting and tracking to ensure productions come in at or under budget.
  • Experience of resolving problems on a show which arise in long
- or short-term timescales.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Ability to work under own initiative and under pressure
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to work with, and influence, a wide range of personnel across the breadth of the organisation, understanding the needs and requirements of all key stakeholders.
This is a full-time, fixed term contract for 1 year. You will be working an average of 48 hours per week over the year. Evening and weekend working is required.
