Legal Cashier/Finance Assistant

£25kc

Maidstone - Working hours are Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm, with hybrid working available.


Our client, a leading law firm are seeking a full time
Legal Cashier/Finance Assistant to join their Finance team based at their office in Maidstone, Kent.

The
Legal Cashier/Finance Assistant is spread across the Finance team and the main tasks are covered by the following:

  • Accurately processing all receipts and payments across the firm's accounts, in accordance with firm policy and SRA Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Daily and monthly bank reconciliation work
  • Processing both client account and office account payments using the firm's online banking facility
  • Posting client and office account receipts and payments to the firm's financial system, in accordance with firm policy and assisting to resolve any queries arising
  • Assisting with the process of inputting disbursements incurred on behalf of Client work through the firm's purchase ledger system
  • Assisting with the payment of disbursements, including ensuring these are paid when required under the SRA Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Assisting with the processing of busines supplier invoices through the firm's purchase ledger system
  • Assisting with payments to creditors either by BACS or cheque in accordance with agreed payment terms
  • Assisting with the reconciliation of statements from suppliers and resolving all queries arising
  • Assisting with the processing of staff expense claims through the firm's purchase ledger system and organising reimbursement payments
  • Assisting with maintaining supplier records in the finance system, to ensure all postings and payments are accurately recorded and paid correctly
  • Assisting with other day to day cashiering duties, including Solicitors Accounts Rules compliance, as and when required

Are you the right person?
- a minimum of 2 years' experience in a finance position / Purchase ledger experience within Law
- experience of using accounting packages and processes
- experience of using online business banking systems
- general understanding of VAT regulations

Ideally you will have excellent attention to detail and a good aptitude for working with numbers.

You need to demonstrate proactivity in resolving queries and be highly organised and able to use your initiative to prioritise when under pressure.


This position would suit a team player who can manage a busy workload and contribute to the success of the wider team.

Ideally you will be comfortable communicating and building relationships with stakeholders, of varying levels, across the wider firm ina professional manner.


Due to the nature of the work the team is involved in, you will need to understand and demonstrate discretion and confidentiality in your work.
