This role consists of 37.5 hours per week to be worked as a 8:00am - 4:00pm shift Monday through Friday providing a full administrative service to all patients, and service users within our Paediatric Day Assessment Unit.

The ward receptionist is a key role within the paediatric administrative function for a number of reasons.

This includes being the first point of contact for all visitors to our Paediatric Day Assessment Unit, maintaining all administrative functions and databases, assisting with queries from patients and visitors and escalating to clinical staffing as appropriate, and maintaining patient records as required.


The successful postholder must have good IT & communicational skills, and be able to deal with changing priorities and workloads, and be able to work both autonomously and as part of a wider team.

Cross-cover may be required, and all administrative are trained to be able to work in all ward areas as required.


Our Paediatric Day Assessment Unit is a nurse led unit that caters for short admission medical cases for procedures such as blood transfusion, apheresis and chemotherapy ensuring the delivery of high-quality day care.


Our paediatric team has 14 subspecialties providing acute care across a range of clinical specialties including but not limited to: oncology, haematology, respiratory, urology, ophthalmology, endocrine and day surgery.

These services are supported by clinical nurse specialists. We are a tertiary centre for paediatric sickle cell, and we are a level 1 POSCU.

The population we serve is younger than the London average and growing fast.

There are stark inequalities between the west & south of our boroughs and one in 5 or our children live in poverty.
