    Description
    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Communications Exploitation Engineer to join the Technical Development Unit (TDU) within SEROCU.

    You will be working as part of a team using your radio frequency (RF) communications knowledge and experience.

    Working closely with a variety of operational teams, this is an opportunity to use your specialist skills and initiative to provide specialist technical support to the South East's most serious criminal operations.


    Due to the nature of the role and the operations we support you will regularly be required to work anti-social hours, sometimes at short notice for protracted hours, providing support to covert policing activities in challenging and high-pressure situations across the South East region, and potentially anywhere in the UK.

    Because of this, you will be required to have a practical and flexible approach and attitude.

    As well as a willingness to deploy on operations at short notice, you will also join an on-call rota to provide 24/7 support.

    You will be required to travel for business purposes across the South East region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years.

    You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.


    The successful candidate will be required to pass all applicable technical competency and accreditation courses and assessments within their first 3 months.


    Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC, together with a number of enhanced security checks.

    In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past five.

    Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.

    Previous role holders have enjoyed the direct impact they have been able to have on tackling serious offenders and supporting operations across the region.

    Some, however, have found the flexibility required to regularly work anti-social hours to be challenging, especially with an extended commute from the location in Kidlington.
