Focus Birmingham is a leading charity in Birmingham and we are seeking for a permanent Assistant Cook to join the Central Resources department.


Job hours available are:
16 hours per week - Hours for role are 10:15 am - 1:30 pm approx. Monday to Friday

The role will be responsible for preparing the food for service users and staff and for the safe and effective operation of the facilities at Focus Birmingham with the following key areas of responsibility:


Health and Safety*- Adhere to Focus Birmingham policy and procedure for infection control to include Covid-1- Ensuring H&S regulations are adhered to at all times.


  • To liaise with Staff and Relatives to ensure key information relating to Service User is exchanged.
Food quality service & Safe Working practice*- To ensure all meal orders are collected from the Team managers in advance on a weekly basis to place food orders with suppliers

  • To report to the Facilities manager any food quality issues or order issue as they arise.
  • Ensuring food deliveries are received in accordance with temperature Guidelines
  • Verify Goods received to orders placed
  • Meals to be regenerated as per the instructions
  • To maintain a professional "front of house" manner at all times, to ensure the reputation of Focus Birmingham.


Service Delivery & Customer Service*- To provide a catering service in a timely manner and in accordance with service user's needs.


  • To maintain and clean all crockery, cutlery and equipment as specified in the daily cleaning tasks as designated by the manager using the dish washing machine.
  • Cleaning down the immediate area on completion of each task and ensure that the kitchen area is cleaned and maintained at all times in accordance with Health & Safety standards.
  • To set up, clear and clean the dining room ready for service
