Part-time Communications and Marketing Coordinator, £35K FTE (£21K pro rata)

18 months' contract | Home-based or hybrid | 22.5 hours per week


The Healthcare Infection Society (HIS) is a small, specialist membership organisation that aims to advance knowledge and disseminate information about the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs).


We are seeking a
part-time Communications and Marketing Coordinator. This exciting role is a great opportunity to join an enthusiastic, committed and engaged team of staff, committees and our1,300 members who are experts in the prevention and control of HCAIs.


The post holder will be an experienced communications and marketing professional with excellent skills in managing social media and other communications channels.

You will work closely with all members of the Society, staff team and volunteers to deliver marketing and communications plans for a range of Society activities.


Some responsibilities include:


  • Implementing marketing and communications plans to support the promotion of society activities such as grants, awards, podcasts, webinars etc.
  • Carrying out regular website audits and using the website content management system to make changes to the content and imagery of the website
  • Developing a HIS social media strategy and managing the HIS social media channels
  • Monitoring and reporting on social media and website statistics
  • Developing marketing materials for all HIS activities

We are looking for:


  • An experienced Marketing/Comms professional ideally from a healthcare related membership organisation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of managing social media and digital communication channels
  • Taskdriven, a selfstarter with good time management, attention to detail and the ability to manage own workload
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy and dynamic environment
  • Working knowledge of GDPR
  • Technical IT skills
