This growing educational organisation are currently seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to join the dynamic team on a permanent basis.

Reporting into the Finance Manager, this newly created role will play a key role in all thing's financial accounts,including month end processes to supporting the audit at year-end.


The key duties of this Assistant Financial Accountant role are as follows:

  • Provide critical support in the year-end audit process, liaising with auditors to answer their queries and provide and data samples required for testing.
  • Take the lead in the maintenance of the balance sheet for the group, preparing reconciliations and investigating discrepancies as required.
  • Deputise for the Finance Manager in the preparation of all VAT and HMRC returns.
  • Play a key role in the month end ledger close process and ensure that all income accrued n a timely fashion.
  • Prepare cash book and payroll journals take full responsibility for responding to queries coming through to the finance office inbox.
  • Support the monitoring of gran income, ensuring all funds are received and coded to the correct accounts in the finance system.

The role will officially be based out of the organisation's head office in Central London but hybrid working arrangements are on offer, with options to work from home twice per week.


  • Partqualified as an accountant or be actively studying.
  • Ideally, a background working in a school or multiacademy trust, but this is by no means essential.
  • Experience working in a similar role, including preparing a variety of reconciliations and journals.
  • Brilliant communication skills and a proactive mindset.
