The utilities officer works as part of the Climate Action and Sustainability team, who develop project ideas, support teams with high quality data and skilfully manage project delivery.

We work closely with facilities management and the housing asset management teams to support the work of improving performance, reporting progress and decarbonising our buildings.


The council's utilities officer maintains a vital role within the organisation that requires clear communication, excellent organisational skills and the resourcefulness to work within a changing regulatory environment.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate your skills and experience of:

  • Understanding how our energy polices and strategies contribute to the council's climate commitments
  • Supporting the management of the council's energy and water supply contracts
  • Ensuring the councils compliance with all statutory and internal energy and water related reporting requirements
  • Using data systems to produce statistical energy consumption models to support the council's carbon emissions reporting and energy use, and
  • Managing programmes related to metering of gas, water and electricity across the housing estate


You will be expected to work 35 hours per week, both in the office, flexibly from home and at other sites within the borough.

The role may also involve occasional evening work and weekends.
