Description
The ED Performance Coordinator will provide an essential support service to the efficient running of the Emergency Department.

The post holder will assist in the management of movement and flow of patients in the ED to maintain patient safety, enhance performance of the emergency 4 hour target and patient experience.

The working hours are mainly 10:00 - 22:30 with night duty and weekend work included.

  • Provide a professional, friendly, and efficient operational administrative support to the ED Department.
  • Work with the Nurse in charge and the Consultant to ensure that patient plans are in place to enable the 4 hour wait target to be met whenever clinically possible.
  • Provide support validating 4 hour breaches using multiple IT platforms enabling accurate external reporting.
  • IT skills are essential, preferably with experience using Cerner (including FirstNet, Power Chart and Capacity Management)
  • Exceptional communication skills are required as the post holder will be expected to work with the ED Consultant and Nurse in Charge in running the Emergency Department as well as escalating issues to speciality teams and assessment units.

Working alongside the Consultant and Nurse in charge, the post holder will hold responsibility of tracking the department via the main computer systems; Cerner and Capman.

The post holder will be expected to chase plans for patients and ensure they are being completed to enable patients to meet the 4-hour emergency care standard.


Additional responsibilities include coordinating with assessment units and speciality teams to enable flow, liaising with the hospital operational managers to ensure patients are being admitted to appropriate wards and monitoring attendances of speciality teams to the Emergency Department.
