Due to an internal promotion, the Deaf Academy has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant, based in Exmouth and reporting to the Finance Manager.


This role is at the heart of our finance processes, enabling our academy to run by supporting processes that pay our staff and suppliers.

You'll be using our accounting software to process invoices, ensuring all necessary control checks are carried out, and ensuring suppliers are paid in a timely manner.

You'll be liaising with suppliers by phone and through the finance inbox and assisting staff and students who visit the finance office.

A key responsibility is managing and reconciling our petty cash system and preparing cash collections and booking cash deliveries.

You'll be ready to learn deaf awareness and some basic sign language.

Key requirements:


  • 5 GCSE's, including Maths and English at Grace C/4 or above
  • Able to confidently use Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Organised and detail orientated
  • Able to deal with large volumes of processing
