We're recruiting for a caring and kind Shift Leader - Care Assistant (Nights), to help support an inspirational group of women, who have dedicated their lives to helping those in need.

This is
a 1 year Fixed Term Contract role, with a start date of 1st January 2023.

About the Role


We are looking for compassionate individual who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering exceptional levels of care.

We are a real living wage employer, and our rates are for experienced carers but if you want to start a career in Care full training and support will be provided.

As part of your role, you will support in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Allocate the group of sisters and the daily tasks to the individual care assistants at the beginning of their shift ensuring that the distribution is even and rotated from one carer to another
  • As the Shift Leader, you will always make yourself available to assist other staff with sisters who are frail or requiring manual handling assistance
  • Participate in the Induction process of the new staff ,offering coaching and support as directed by the Care Manager /Deputy Care Manager
  • At the beginning of the shift check staff diary, appointments/transport to ensure that no appointments or messages are missed. Check the duty rota to ensure that the expected staff are present and that levels are correct for the shifts. Organise replacement cover as necessary
  • Give/receive the handover report, ensuring that all relevant information is given and received. Shift Leaders are to ensure that the Handover is commenced promptly and completed without wasting time on irrelevant matters
  • Liaise with the Doctors, Community Nurses and accompany them to se the sisters when needed to be seen at night ( unless they prefer to be seen in private) and/or provide them with up to date information about the sister
  • Contribute to the reviewing and monitoring process of the Sister Care Plans following instructions from Care Manager/Deputy Care Manager/Nurse Manager
  • Participate in training activities / courses as directed for the further enhancement of work

Hours:
This is a full-time position, working 43 hours per week. 4 nights a week, including alternate weekends


Shift time: 20.45pm - 7.30am


Hourly rate, dependant on shift:
£12.80 hour week night / £15.60 hour weekend night, plus enhancements


About You


To succeed in this role you will need to have NVQ level 3, with experience in caring for the elderly.

You'll already have medication training, 2 years care experience with also experience in leading a team and able to take responsibility for the shift and for the service.
