As a Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing stock levels and supplier lead times to ensure the timely fulfillment of customer and factory requirements.
Operating within a dynamic Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for facilitating the procurement of raw materials and finished goods, maintaining supplier relationships, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify, order, and manage materials and quantities to fulfill customer and factory requirements, ensuring timely delivery in line with agreed schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of order delivery dates to keep the information up to date at all times.
- Foster regular communication with suppliers to guarantee ontime dispatch of goods, coordinating with the goods received department for timely receipt within agreed timelines.
- Assist the demand planning function in monitoring fastmoving product run rates to uphold safety stock levels within agreed targets.
- Continuously improve supplier delivery dates to align with customer and business needs, managing exception freight authorizations accurately and effectively.
- Maintain supplier and product data integrity to support the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process.
- Regularly monitor stock levels and update supplier delivery data in response to fluctuations to ensure current information availability.
- Participate in supplier development programs and reviews to meet business targets effectively.
- Support the company's supplier compliance program, ensuring diligent adherence to business requirements.
Ideal experience and skills:
- Background in manufacturing
- Operating in a fastpaced environment to challenging deadlines
- Planning and procurement of raw materials
- Working within Supply Chain/ buying team
- Working with MRP
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong MS Office, including intermediate Excel
- Team Player
- Selfmotivated and a flexible approach to workload and tasks
Education
- HNC in a business discipline would be an advantage
- CIPS or similar qualification would be an advantage but not essential
