Identifying any skills or training gaps and escalating to the appropriate service y Leads or relevant line managers Where a requirement is identified, undertake training to develop further advanced clinical practice roles required by the service in order ensure we continue to provide a high standard of patient care Work within the HCPC Standards of Proficiency - Radiographers and Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics Where required participate in rosters that incorporate extended 7 day working and work on different sites in accordance with service needs.

Ensure that all equipment belonging to and found within Radiology is operated safely.

Report and stop the use of equipment where there is any risk to patient, staff or itself Report any defects, malfunctions or faults at the earliest opportunity to the relevant site service lead Record all actions taken with respect to such equipment Ensure the maintenance of safe, clean and tidy working environments, particularly the adherence of infection control procedures and promote and ensure the same among all staff Expected to participate in role expansion where required Demonstrate a flexible approach towards the hours and days of work.

Will participate in work and duties as required relevant to both the directorate and wider hospital.


To participate in any out of hours rota already established or established in the future Can, where required, undertake venepuncture and intravenous cannulation for administration of contrast media, intravenous flush and other named medicines pertinent to departmental examination protocols, in accordance with the relevant PGD Professional Leadership and Management Provide highly visible and accessible, professional radiographic leadership and demonstrate expert knowledge and standards of clinical practice within appropriate areas of speciality Safely and efficiently organise and prioritise workload in a departmental section or area, taking into account the patients clinical condition and referral clinical information.

Where appropriate, to lead, supervise, advise, support and train Radiographers, assistant practitioners, Radiology Department Assistants, apprentices, students working in the same departmental area/section Support senior leads in the management of staff sickness, where appropriate to include receiving of calls, organising required cover, sickness reviews and referrals to occupational health as required Organise and prioritise the daily workload and all aspects of imaging examinations as appropriate, taking into account the demands on the service and maintaining efficiency Support on the implementation and training of new techniques and equipment whilst ensuring that consistent competencies are achieved and documented in the appropriate way Support with and maintain a robust training plan to support countywide working Update and where required support to formulate staff rosters to ensure appropriate staffing of the area and maintain accurate roster records, ensuring service provision is maintained.

i.e.

To liaise with other areas of the department to ensure safe staffing levels are maintained, adjusting the rotas with respect to staff when sickness etc occurs.

To be responsible for organising cover for both in and out of hours shifts where required i.e.

when an unavoidable absence occurs, at short notice etc To escalate issues arising that impact on service delivery to the modality leads and service managers To perform risk assessments associated with service provision or changes in practice Where relevant, observe and ensure adherence to current Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations, in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures and Local Rules Where appropriate, ensure the radiation safety of all individuals in relevant working environments in accordance with the current IRR When entitled to do so by the employer, undertake practitioner, operator, and referrer roles within current IR(ME) Regulations and all amendments as appropriate to professional practice Promote team working; build rapport and collaborative working practices with MDT's.

Act as a clinical role model demonstrating high standards of clinical practice and provide support or advice to other staff when necessary Participate in staff induction and update, review and revise all training strategies, competencies and plans in conjunction with the Modality lead radiographer
