We're excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic and forward-thinking Data Science Apprentice to join our Data Science team within the Asset Management Insight department, situated in the Asset Strategy and Capital Delivery directorate.

This opportunity also comes with a funded BSc in Data Science, with flexible learning and development time, providing you with the foundation to excel in this exciting field.

You'll play an important role in our data-driven initiatives.

As a member of our closely-knit team, you will contribute to the development of our data science capabilities, and campaign innovation by actively engaging in diverse projects, around the directorate.

You'll be at the forefront of leveraging data-driven solutions to address challenges in the water sector.
As an apprentice, you'll have an oversight and input into diverse projects related to water asset management.

Your role will involve harnessing the power of data to advance our asset management strategies, ensuring optimisation of processes to meet our important performance commitments for customers and the environment, and strengthening overall efficiency at Affinity Water.

While you may not have extensive experience in the data science field, your passion for data and understanding of its potential in the data, AI and machine learning world are what we value most.

Principal accountabilities

Our dynamic and friendly Data Science team offers the unique opportunity to grow your career while pursuing a BSc in Data Science, which we proudly sponsor.

We are seeking individuals who possess a foundational understanding of the profound impact and capabilities of data science and are eager to dive into this exciting field.

As a key member of our team, you'll be encouraged to learn, excel, and contribute to a variety of data science projects, all while championing the power of data science to enhance awareness and drive innovation within our organisation.

You will analyse complex asset datasets, revealing trends and patterns, using data science and analytics tools, for informed decision-making.


As part of our team, you'll receive support from our friendly data scientists and analysts, to build you in your role and studies.

Additionally, you'll benefit from many learning and development opportunities, with flexible scheduling to accommodate your
academic commitments.

  • Analyse asset datasets, revealing trends and patterns for informed decisionmaking.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to understand business needs and create datadriven solutions.
  • Support development of predictive models for asset health maturity and optimisation.
  • Contribute to the automation of data processing to enhance efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of originality and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Innovate and create, to advance data science capabilities.

Requirements:


  • Keen to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Data Science
  • Enthusiasm and understanding of basic data science concepts, even without formal qualifications or extensive experience
  • Key understanding of data analysis and data science principles, showcasing enthusiasm and knowledge of data.
  • Simple understanding of Python, SQL, or other coding languages
  • Simple understanding of business analytics platforms, such as Qlik
  • Selfmotivated. Keep informed with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning,artificial intelligence, and related technologies.
