Advert - Islington Clozapine Clinic

The clozapine clinic is a service run to ensure the following aims:

  • to promote safety, concordance, physical health and to reduce the risks that are associated with taking clozapine
  • To ensure service users physical health is regularly monitored alongside side effect monitoring
  • To manage, in conjunction with the Clozaril Patient Monitoring Service (CPMS) and pharmacy that the blood testing and monitoring to enable a continued supply of clozapine for service users initiated/already established on clozapine.
  • To provide a specialist comprehensive and supportive service to the wider multidisciplinary teams to support service users who are prescribed clozapine within the Trust.
  • To offer safer administration and monitoring of olanzapine depots in line with existing Trust Policy
We are seeking an experienced band 4 practitioner to join our service to deliver the aims above

Clozapine Clinic

  • The assistant practitioner will support the service to provide a therapeutic, warm, trauma informed environment where service users will feel welcome
  • Perform physical health examinations and monitoring
- record outcomes on the electronic patient monitoring record system

  • Respond to crisis
  • Run the clozapine clinic Poachie machine
  • Respond to physical health anomalies that may impact on patients well wellbeing
  • Arrange emergency bloods
  • Support queries from other services
- appointments
- new referrals
- liaise with community teams/GP's

Band 4

Your verbal, written and IT skill are expected to be of a very high standard.

- support community teams with physical health related issues affecting service users as an extended role
