DS Smith are a market leader in the design, creation, and production of corrugated packaging solutions for a range of industries across the world.

We work closely with the Product Development, Operations and Marketing departments of top brands across the world, to deliver sustainable, creative, innovative solutions that enhance our customer's products in-store and throughout supply chains.


We are looking for a fresh thinking Design for Manufacture Lead to join our existing Cluster based Design & Innovation team - leading our D&I team and managing activities so that we can drive development, deployment, and effective use of Design tools and services to support the business' targets.


This a great opportunity for a someone who is looking to develop their leadership skills in this field as you'll be heading up a team of Design Specialists and taking responsibility for all design and development work, concept testing, and setting of requirements, specifications and tolerances.

You'll be working with stakeholders across various sites and throughout the organisation, supporting sales processes, operational efficiency and ensuring our customers are delighted with their service through every interaction with us.

About you

  • Experience in a Corrugated Packaging environment, ideally in a large, multinational business
  • Experienced with design tools such as CAD would be an advantage
  • A solid understanding of 2D and 3D design
  • Experience managing design teams
  • A proactive team player who can demonstrate energy and enthusiasm to inspire customers and colleagues
  • IT literacy (MS Packages essential, Adobe beneficial)
  • Great attention to detail
  • Problem solving abilities in tight timescales
  • Ability to work under pressure in peak times

Location:
This role is remote, with regular visits to DS Smith sites in Scotland and the North of England (2-3 a month)
