Job Description:
AECOM is seeking to hire a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor with technical due diligence and/or dilapidations specialist interest into our national Building Surveying Professional Services team.
Location is flexible but you will need to be able to travel extensively around the UK (and occasionally further afield) to carry out your job duties.
The individual would be keen to embrace the opportunity to specialise in providing technical due diligence (TDD) and/or dilapidations services.
This role will suit someone with a strong technical background who has carried out numerous technical due diligence and/or dilapidations instructions, and who would like to now specialise in these services whilst supporting work winning and client management initiatives.
As a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor, you will be an important part of the team's leadership structure, working alongside others to help grow and develop our people and our business.
Job Duties:

We survey all kinds of commercial building from hotels to warehouses, offices to student accommodation, and we work with some of the world's biggest names.
This job requires that you:
- Lead and manage others on individual TDD and/or dilapidations commissions, including carrying out surveys and report writing.
- Take ownership of your surveys/projects, including:
- support preparation of fee proposals and bids and liaising with clients
- tracking and managing the finances of your surveys/projects
- tracking and managing your team's performance on your surveys/projects
- coordinating timely and accurate invoicing Work with the team to develop business with existing clients as well as new work
- Work with the team and others across building surveying to deliver continuous improvement to our standards, processes and knowledge and to develop our more junior team members
- Are familiar with a wide range of construction types and understand the common issues and defects associated with these
Qualifications:
- Experience in all core building surveying work areas especially TDD and/or dilapidations
- A good working knowledge of the relevant RICS guidance notes, particularly those relating to TDD and/or dilapidations
- Experience of working in and project managing multidisciplinary teams
- Strong client relationship management skills and be comfortable participating in business development activity
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience of managing and coordinating all phases of multiple surveying projects at once
- Experience of writing fee proposals
- Ability to project manage own projects and oversee those of junior staff
- Awareness of new technologies and legislation, as appropriate
- Experience of all aspects of financial management of instructions, including invoicing clients for own projects
- Ability to performs a variety of senior level tasks with mínimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hold a relevant degree, such as an RICS accredited Bachelor's degree in building surveying and be a Full Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) (other professional qualifications will be considered if you are able to demonstrate relevance)
- Experience of practising and delivering building surveying services to clients in a commercial building consultancy
- You must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
- You will have excellent Microsoft Office skills and be highly proficient in the use of Word and Excel in particular
