Description

Senior Library Assistant - 1 x 36 hours per week

Based:
Stamford Library, Lincolnshire

Up to £22,206 pro rata
Stamford Library, operated by GLL, is looking for a Senior Library Assistant to work 36 hours a week.

Stamford is the second busiest library in the county giving access to a wide variety of collections and resources including books, public access computers and a local studies reference collection.

This is an exciting time to join our team as we improve and promote the library's services for the people of Lincolnshire - whether it is our valued existing users or widening the offering to a new group of customers.

With community at the heart of everything we do, as a Senior Library Assistant, you'll ensure that every visitor to the Library is welcomed into a clean, safe and attractive environment with useful facilities that keep them wanting to return.

As a key frontline staff member, you'll adapt to, and acknowledge, the diversity of our visitors and what they aim to get out of their library visit as well as helping them to discover our wide range of resources and services.

Your passion for libraries and community engagement will be apparent as you help people do everything from discovering new authors to tracking their ancestry from our records and even helping them find their ideal job using our IT systems.

You will ideally come from a library background, but it will be your enthusiasm for helping others and devotion to customer care that makes you really stand out.

Naturally good with people, you will be able to put people of all ages and backgrounds at ease whilst helping to promote our services.

Organised, efficient and thriving on variety, you'll also have excellent IT skills. Experience of using Library Management Systems will be useful but not essential as training will be given.

You will be creative and able to devise imaginative and fun children's activities and deliver story times and craft activities for the under 5s.

It goes without saying that you'll need excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills, but you'll also need excellent administration skills, an understanding of health and safety at work and the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

Knowledge of safety and security processes in a public building would be desirable but not essential as training will be given.

Closing date: 2nd July 2023
