A leading merchant banking group require a Tax Manager to manage statutory tax compliance deadlines and obligations of the banking division.

The Tax Manager will take ownership for the management of tax projects and deliverables. They should also takeresponsibility for advising the business and finance teams around associated Tax matters.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide ongoing management to the team including delivering experienced advice & guidance to ensure they remain highly motivated & successful.
  • Provide oversight & Guidance for company efforts to calculate and obtain Research & Development related Tax Credits.
  • Provide extensive review of comprehensive workings in respect of Finance Leases in order to calculate the required Tax effects of these deals at the key Tax and Financial reporting period deadlines.
  • Review workings included in the compilation and ultimate completion of the Corporation Tax returns within the Banking Division, including analysing data on Tax sensitive areas.
  • Oversee compilation of our PSA Returns (Income Tax), understanding and utilising all available exemptions to ensure a very high level of accuracy of output.
  • Advise on the accounting side of all taxation including VAT and Bad Debt Relief calculations where requested.
  • Ensure tax computations and returns are filed with the relevant Tax authorities, in the correct format and on a timely basis (Corporation tax, VAT and PSA returns).
  • Conduct research in order to respond to Tax related queries from internal or external stakeholders on a timely basis and in a practical and commercial way e.g. Tax advisory to business on a new product or queries from HMRC.
  • Provide support to the Finance function during reporting periods such as the year end including preparation of detailed taxation calculations.
  • Ensure that adequate controls are in place including those required by the Senior Accounting Officer regulations and keeping documentation and risk registers up to date.
  • Complete all mandated online training when required and are keep abreast of any internal communications
  • Ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Finance Director
  • Tax, including adhoc requirements or changes as a result of updated relevant legislation.
Skills & Experience

You will have:

  • Proven experience within a financial services Tax function in practice or industry.
  • Experience in Direct or Indirect Taxes.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Good commercial awareness; keeps up to date on knowledge and compliance with all regulatory tax requirements including changes in tax law in practice and the potential impact on the business.
  • Experience with software tools such as SAP and ALFA is an advantage but not essential.
Education & Qualifications

You will have:

  • Professional qualification in accounting e.g. ACA, CA, ACCA, CTA, ATT
  • Degree educated or equivalent
  • A professional qualification in tax e.g. ATT or CTA is desirable but not essential
