Part time 16 hours (6-6:30am start, Tuesday 7 hours, Wednesday and Friday 4.5 hours)

Salary £24,977 (pro rata £10,656 for 16 hours) plus 7% pension contribution

Based in central Ipswich

Your role and responsibilities
This role is part of the Rough Sleeper Project, funded by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.


We are looking for an Outreach worker to locate and engage with people sleeping rough within the Ipswich boundary and offer initial support to encourage them into services and to move off the streets into appropriate accommodation.


You will need:


You will have experience of working with people who are homeless or rough sleepers or those who have complex needs such as alcohol or substance use, mental health issues, a history of trauma and/or offending/antisocial behaviour.


Ideally you will be familiar with working with statutory and voluntary agencies and be able to find creative ways to engage with people.


You must also be able to assess and manage risk and work independently (the role will involve lone working), using your own initiative, and work as part of a team.

ihAg is a busy local charity supporting people who are at risk of, or are experiencing, homelessness.


The Advice Team provide a daily point of human contact, and support people with the huge range of practical and emotional issues they can face if they are currently homeless, or at risk of losing their home.

The Chapman Centre is a homelessness hub for social interaction, practical support and advice.
