We have an exciting opportunity for a PhD or postdoc level social sciences researcher, with an interest in climate communication.


Position:
Senior Researcher


Location:
Oxford (hybrid/remote working considered)


Hours:
Full-time, 35 hours per week (flexible working considered)


Salary:
£40,000 pa, plus benefits


Contract:
Permanent

Benefits: 3.5% - 5% pension, enhanced parental leave pay, cycle scheme, flexible working arrangements and 33 days of annual leave (FTE)

About the Role

Key responsibilities include

*Research design and implementation
*Engaging stakeholders with research work
*Contributing to securing research funding and the wider strategic development of the research function

About You

This role offers many opportunities for building on your existing research experience and developing new skills.

You will have a passion for climate change and climate communication and a commitment to producing high quality work that meets the needs of various high level clients.

You will have

*A Doctorate in the social sciences
*Confidence and proven competency in reading and understanding research based on a range of quantitative and qualitative methodologies
*Experience of designing research based on quantitative and qualitative methodologies
*A proven ability to review, analyse and synthesise climate change communication research (from a range of disciplinary backgrounds) to agreed deadlines
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Group facilitation skills (e.g. focus groups), or willingness to learn
*Proficiency with statistical analysis programs (e.g., R, SPSS, JASP/JAMOVI)
*A willingness and ability to work independently when required, and to work co-cooperatively as part of a team
*Line management and people development skills, or a willingness to learn
*Strong organisational skills and efficient time management,
*Committed to personal professional development
*Interest in building public engagement with climate change

About the Organisation


The organisation is passionate about widening and deepening public engagement with climate change and through research, practical guides and consultancy services, helps organisations engage diverse audiences beyond the usual suspects.

They focus on building and sustaining cross-societal support for climate action, overcoming political polarisation, and turning concern into action and have nearly two decades of experience working with a range of international partners including government, international bodies, media and charities.


The organisation was founded in 2004 as the first British organisation to focus exclusively on public engagement with climate change, and is proud of the impact it has had.
