Description

We are looking for a pro-active and conscientious Visitor Experience Lead to join the Public Access Team here at Grimsthorpe.

The face of Grimsthorpe, responsible for the visitor experience whilst on site. Oversees the castle guides, volunteers and visitor retail experience.


Description of Main Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for visitors to the Castle, park and grounds.
  • Ensures that the public access areas are presented to visitors in a manner consistent with the aims of the Trust.
  • Assists with the recruitment, training and management of public access employees.
  • Responsible for health and safety and first aid for their team and all visitors.
  • Assist with the review and implementation of the salvage plan for the Castle.
  • Provide guided tours of the Castle and grounds as required.
  • Assist with interpretative marketing material for the Castle and gardens as required.
  • Assist with the set up and break down of events. Observe the events when in progress.
  • Supervise regular checking and maintenance of the adventure playground using both onsite staff and third party contractors. Assist with the development of the playground offer.
  • Ensure ticket machine, card reader, smartphone scanners are updated as required and fully operational for each open day. Ensure takings from each day are removed to Estate Office. Ensure card transaction compliance is up to date. Seek best value from service providers.
  • Oversee daily cash reconciliation of the shop and cash collection from the Ticket Office.
  • Prepare reports for submission to the Board as required relating to the visitor operation.

General Statement
Undertake additional roles and responsibilities from time to time as requested by the Managing Trustee, or other managers. You must ensure you comply with the policies and procedure of the organisation at all times.

As part of your role you are required to keep your skills up to date and to take part in training and development that is offered.


Hours of Work
37.5 hours with flexible working pattern for summer and winter opening hours as agreed with the Managing Trustee.

Personal Specification:

Self-motivated team leader who has an inquisitive, adventurous and determined mind set. An excellent ability to communicate orally and written. This person must be keen to be challenged, problem solve and think out of the box.


Qualifications:


  • Educated to degree level.

Experience:


  • Recent experience working in a historic house setting or National Trust property as a visitor interlocutor.
