Company Information
An independent rail consultancy of 10 years' standing, with a wealth of experience and expertise across a wide variety of environments and disciplines is looking to take on a Senior Project Planner to monitor maintain and update project plans/programmes in coordination with all stakeholders on rail projects


Skills and experience required

  • Proven indepth project planning experience
  • Civil Engineering experience
  • Experience of rail projects would be a significant advantage
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an established project planning environment
  • Proven experience in delivering projects to the desired outcomes and within quality, time and costs limits
  • Highly competent user of Primavera P
  • Proficient to intermediate level in Microsoft Excel as a minimum
  • Willing to travel to project sites as required

While not essential it would be advantageous if:

  • You have a working knowledge of project management control systems and GRIP (the railway project governance process).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating large project schedules ensuring quality, logic, clarity and accuracy. From various sources.
  • Support the use/integration of project and contract management systems into the daily operation of the business.
  • Provide support for the administration of contracts including programme requirements as part of tender/contract preparation, reviewing of tender progress and monitoring programmes once awarded.
  • Perform project progress monitoring duties including identifying critical path activities and reviewing forecasts with progress achieved to date.
  • Assist the Project Manager with evaluating schedule impacts arising from sourcing decisions.
  • Provide relevant reports and planning support to both project team members and management to ensure the team has all the tools required to make the right decisions to execute the project and meet all established project deadlines.
  • Clearly communicate roles, expectations, and accountabilities to all team members on a regular basis.
  • Regularly keep management and stakeholders informed of problems, issues, and status of ongoing projects.
  • Raise the standard of planning, implementing consistency and best practices
