Job description:

About the team
Now is a hugely exciting time to join Ofqual's Digital, Data and Technology, (DDAT), team.

We're transforming the way that we deliver our DDAT services by placing the right emphasis on Product Delivery using User Centred Design principles.

We put our user needs first, and by working with our talented product owners, business analysts, user researchers and interaction designers who use techniques to create and synthesise insights from multiple sources, you'll make informed decisions to deliver business value, failing fast, iterating, and continuously improving our services so that they meet - and exceed - todays, and the future needs of
all our users.

You'll do this by drawing on your own product management and leadership skills, while working within the GOV.UK Service Manual and Service Standard.

_ What will the post holder be doing?_

Working with and reporting to the Director of DDaT, you'll lead a team of skilled user researchers, interaction designers, business analysts and product managers as part of the wider DDAT team of over 35 professionals.

You will ensure that our digital and data products continue to enable regulation and in turn support and promote confidence in regulated qualifications among learners and others who rely on them.

It's an exciting time to join our well-established DDAT team who are undergoing evolution in the way that we work, and you'll play a key role in transforming and providing leadership in this.

Alongside this, we're also redeveloping one of Ofqual's most important services - our Register.

The Register offers details about the organisations and qualifications we regulate to thousands of users every month, and they'll be using it for a variety of different reasons.

We're excited about enriching the information, usability, relevance, and accessibility of the Register to enable students and apprentices, schools and colleges, employers, and citizens to make informed decisions about regulated qualifications.

As Associate Director for Digital Regulation, you'll be responsible for driving the delivery of this re-imagined service, leading the project team to ensure we thoroughly understand our current and potential user base, design a platform that they can easily navigate, and develop this as an MS Azure cloud native platform.

To be successful, you'll need to be an inspiring leader who leads by example and is able to work in a pressurised environment with ambition and an enthusiasm that motivates those around you to deliver excellent services.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Strategic digital leadership, delivering policies, projects and products using an agile delivery methodology.
  • Identifying where digital can provide solutions to achieve Ofqual strategic and corporate objectives efficiently and effectively.
  • Delivery of digital initiatives through effective Product Ownership that deliver lasting impact. Achieved through engagement with Awarding Organisations and Ofqual staff, other parts of the education system and wider stakeholders.
  • Influencing and shaping decisionmaking and policy for digital regulation working closely with Ofqual leadership, individually and collectively.
