We have a great opportunity for a Power Electronics Specialist (PFE Electrical Development Engineer) to join our Greenwich based client.
As a Power Electronics Specialist, you will participate in the development, qualification, and documentation of hardware to be used in Power Feeding Equipment (PFE) product.
The PFE provides the current to power undersea cable systems, generating High Voltage (up to 21kV DC at up to 2 Amps) from a low to medium voltage DC supply, with a long system life and high reliability.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
- Minimum 5 years' experience in relevant R&D, preferably with experience of manufacturing.
- Good understanding of general electrical/electronic and mechanical engineering principles.
- Good communication skills.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Product development within the following Electrical \ Electronic engineering disciplines:
- Power Electronics
- general
- Power Electronics
- HV/low current
- Transformer design (wound and Planar)
- Closed loop control : both analogue and digital (DSP/DSC)
- Analogue and digital circuit design
- Generation of requirement specifications, schematics, test information, reports, and manufacturing information as required.
- Liaising with other team members, other teams (e.g. manufacturing) and external suppliers.
- Developed products to be modelled and tested during the development phase and formally validated during the qualification phase against requirements for:
- Agreed Functionality
- Environmental conditions
- Reliability, availability & lifetime
- Manufacturability & testability
- Cost
- Tools: Simulation (e.g. PSpice); System Simulation (PLECS), Schematic capture and PCB layout, MS Office
- Familiarity with test equipment (e.g. PSU, oscilloscope, gain/phase analyser, I & V measurements)
