A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Buyer to join a forward thinking, expanding company within the energy sector, with state-of-the-art facilities and a supportive management network, this is a really great time to join.


Responsibilities:


  • Sourcing of raw materials & finished goods through new & existing suppliers
  • Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers
  • Assess tenders and quotations from potential suppliers
  • Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
  • Identify, manage and mitigate risk within the supply chain
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
  • Track commodity pricing, market trends & competitor strategies
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
  • Monitor forecasts to identify changes and to determine their effect on supply chain activities
  • Liaising with all internal stakeholders, building and maintaining key relationships
  • Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible
  • Develop creative and innovative procurement processes
  • Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
  • Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organisational targets and requirements
  • Support product change requests and review and communicate the impact on capacity plans
  • Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and ensure good communications.

Beneficial Requirements:


  • Ideally a relevant manufacturing/engineering degree or similar qualification
  • Time served experience in a buying or similar role
  • Proven purchasing experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements
  • Contract management and supplier experience
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain management & commodity markets
  • Experience or demonstrated knowledge of vendor development from a Lean perspective & Kanban implementation desirable
