On a day-to-day basis, you will manage the infrastructure that delivers the services to our customers in our server brands based in the UK.

Some specific examples you will be required to take on include:

  • Creating, implementing and maintaining hosting solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Debugging and resolving complex issues within the platforms and infrastructure.
  • Assisting the support teams with escalated issues and guidance/training on systems and new solutions.
  • Managing the infrastructure running platforms, including lifecycle management and the implementation of new infrastructure.
  • Securing systems and platforms, and managing any immediate security concerns across it, such as zero day vulnerabilities.


You should have at least 8-10 years of experience in an IT Systems role (5 years as a Linux/Windows senior administrator/engineer within the ISP industry), and a technical-related degree is preferred.


In performing your duties, you will always be expected to use your best endeavours to promote and maintain the company's interests and reputation.


Key responsibilities

  • Supporting existing platforms.
  • Ensuring 24/7/365 uptime of systems and services.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of the systems and processes.
  • Act as a referral point to help staff resolve queries and problems.
  • Document solutions and builds to provide a knowledge base to other administrators.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure the smooth running of systems and roadmap future requirements.
  • Train and share knowledge of implemented and maintained systems with other departmental staff.
  • Resolve escalated issues.
  • Request new products or services that would help the company be more successful.
  • Identify network hardware and software that needs to be upgraded, then plan and implement.
  • Suggest and implement architectural improvements.
  • Review system logs and monitor systems.
  • Join the oncall rota to provide outofhours support.
  • Travel to various offices and data centres when required.
  • Ensure the smooth daily running of the company platforms and customer systems.
  • Ensure sufficient capacity and performance are available for all systems.
  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations, ensuring the safety of self and others at all times.
  • Reporting bugs and liaison with vendor support.
  • Keep abreast and informed of current I.T. technologies and security best practices/issues that affect the systems.

Required skills and experience:


  • Very strong IT skills in an Internet environment.
  • Resilient with the ability to problemsolve.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Linux (CentOS/Cloudlinux)/Windows Server/VMware ESXi skills in a hosting environment.
  • Experience with Dell server hardware.
  • Extensive cPanel/Plesk experience.
  • Extensive experience with MySQL/MSSQL/PostgreSQL/Elasticsearch.
  • Experience with common web platforms (wordpress/umbraco/magento) and their setup/operation.
  • Familiarity with backup solutions (Veeam/R1soft/Acronis).
  • Experience with load balancing and HA platforms (DB replication/load balancing).
  • Experience and knowledge of Azure and AWS platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience with at least one shell scripting language (I.e. bash, PowerShell etc).
  • Knowledge and experience with configuration management tooling (I.e., Chef, Ansible, Puppet etc).
  • Networking skills and experience (switching/routing/firewalls/vpn) ideally with Juniper and Fortinet.
  • Datacentre best practices, including inrack power and network cabling.
  • Using troubleshooting tools and the ability to manage and communicate faults for a quick resolution by working with
