Our client has
an exciting opportunity for a Communications Shift Engineer
to join their team in London.
You will join them on a full
time,
permanent
basis
, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £45,000 per annum excellent benefits (shift allowance, travel allowance, bonus scheme, pension, health insurance).****The
Communications Shift Engineer role overview**: As their Communications Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that customers' incidents/events and/or requests are processed in accordance with industry standards and brought to a successful resolution within agreed Service Levels at both London sites.

You will also be responsible for providing a value-added service to customers.


Key tasks of their Communications Shift Engineer:

  • Receiving and acting on all customer incidents/events/request notifications
  • Incident Management
  • Prioritise, diagnose and investigate incidents according to agreed procedures
  • Incident Management
  • Facilitate recovery, following resolution of incidents, documents and resolved incidents, events and/or requests via agreed procedures
  • Implementation of agreed IT Infrastructure changes and following maintenance routines
  • Network Support
  • Use Network Management tools where applicable to investigate and diagnose network problems, collect performance statistics, and create reports
  • Customer Service
  • Liaise with customers regarding fault correction progress and circuit installations
  • Maintaining customer equipment manuals, network drawings and circuit databases accurately and efficiently
  • Installing telecoms cabinets and cable installations in addition to installing and configuring customer equipment
  • Responsible for security of FM areas
  • Facilities Management
  • Monitor compliance against agreed processes and investigate, assess, and resolve incidents of non-compliance, escalating where necessary. Carry their routine audit checks to ensure adherence to the policies and procedures

Essential Qualifications and Experience they're looking for in their Communications Shift Engineer:

  • Educated to BTEC National Experience level (minimum) in telecoms (preferably), or IT
  • Sound knowledge of wide area networking and all associated protocols to perform sectionalisation and testing
  • Good understanding of Fibre and Copper interfaces
  • Ability to conduct fault isolation and fault finding
  • Ability to complete rack installations of routers, switches, firewalls, and servers
  • Good understanding of Microsoft and Linux O/S and associated products
  • Fibre Optic Testing & Safe Working Practices
  • CompTIA A Certificate or similar
