Employment Support Worker - Downpatrick, United Kingdom - NIACRO
Description
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- A blend of face to face and remote support provided to clients with convictions referred from PBNI, DfC Work Coaches and across the Northern Ireland Prison Service sites who have an interest in employment primarily in construction, hospitality, or warehousing.
- Carry out a strengths and needs assessment and establish a baseline from which to measure participants' progress.
- Develop Action Plans in conjunction with Probation Staff/Work Coaches/clients to build on strengths and meet needs, identifying appropriate interventions and pathways for progression. E.g., Benefits & Finances, Criminal Record Disclosure, Training, Education, Work Placement, CV Preparation, Job searching, Interview Preparation etc.
- Identify and create opportunities for participants through a mentoring approach, supporting their personal development, training, and progression towards employment in construction, hospitality, or warehousing.
- Support the resettlement and rehabilitation of participants on the program.
- Identify and develop connections with community-based services that can offer specialist employment and training support to participants, as well as those that can be made available in prison locations.
- Develop links with employers and identify, negotiate, and support suitable placement / employment opportunities.
The Post holder will, from time to time, be required to undertake any other reasonable duties which may be requested by the line manager including co-working with relevant projects.

The post holder will participate in all relevant training and development initiatives that are identified as required by the Line Manager.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Criteria
- A third level qualification (NVQ 4 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline e.g., Social Work, Education & Training, Advice and Guidance, Employment, Community Safety, Youth and Community Work, Criminal Justice etc.
- Evidence of a minimum of one year's experience of supporting people with complex needs towards learning and employment.
- Evidence of excellent organisational skills demonstrating your ability to work towards multiple priorities
- Evidence of forming and maintaining excellent professional relationships with key stakeholders
Desirable Criteria
- Considerable experience of supporting people involved in the Criminal Justice System.
- Qualification in Advice/Guidance and or Education and Training
- Experience of working in the voluntary sector
- Two years' experience of supporting people with complex needs towards learning and employment in a training and employment environment
- CTC clearance
NB:

Job Types:

£29,777.00 per year
