THE COMPANY:

A large telecommunications company is looking for a Principal Data Engineer. The company is a media regulator focusing on protecting the public from harmful and offensive content. It is looking to orchestrate a large migration project from SQL server toAzure. You will be responsible for designing ETL pipelines, standardising datasets, and leading a small team.


THE ROLE:


As the Data Engineer, you will have ownership of the SQL server and Azure platform as they orchestrate a large data migration project.

The company is looking to centralise its Data sets to improve its analytics capability. The role also involves some linemanagement and stakeholder engagement responsibilities.


You will:

  • Gather data requirements from senior stakeholders
  • Design, implement, and manage the ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory and SQL
  • Use SQL and/or Databricks to query data hosted in the Azure platform
  • Create data models reflective of commercial metrics for analytical use
  • Design, test, and build new ETL pipelines to support new data sources being integrated into Azure
  • Lead a small team of Developers
  • Frequently liaise with senior stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS:


  • SQL (essential)
  • SQL server (essential)
  • SSAS
  • Azure (desirable)
  • ADF / Data factory (desirable)
  • Databricks (desirable)
  • ETL design experience
  • Data modelling experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • 12 years of line management experience is essential
