BANK REHABILITATION SUPPORT WORKER

DAY AND NIGHT CARE - SITTINGBOURNE, KENT

The Client


A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a *female Rehabilitation Support Worker, living in a fully adapted family home close to
Sittingbourne, to join our wonderfully dedicated team in supporting our 18-year-oldclient with her day-to-day personal care, nutrition, mobility, therapy, and psychological needs.


Our client, a young lady with a lovely sense of humour, really enjoys face to face contact, participating in lots of different sensory activities indoors and outdoors, going on short, planned days out, looking at animals and wildlife as well as enjoys all things Disney related The client loves shopping and playing on the bouncy castle.

Our client suffered a brain injury and as such has severe physical and cognitive impairments.

Our client has Cerebral Palsy and is nonverbal and requires full support with feeding, all personal care as well as assistance with intensive therapy sessions for fine motor skills and all physical movement.


The Rehabilitation Support Worker

  • You would need to have experience in working with children or young adults with disabilities and preferably have supported individuals who have suffered brain injuries. An NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • You will want to develop your skills by learning and undertaking clinical tasks.
  • You are comfortable with using basic IT skills and handling equipment to ensure the client can access the full range of resources to help her communicate.
  • You will be expected to incident report and escalate any issues to the Team Leader and/or Case Management Team
  • You will need to attend all mandatory training provided.
  • Successful DBS Disclosure and referencing required.

Day Duty Expectations

  • You are patient, caring, supportive and engaging and are passionate about helping to meet the client's day to day needs as well as to enable a safe and fun environment for them to engage and play.
  • You will be required to support with the client's hot tub sessions when she uses this at home for sensory and relaxation purposes.
  • You would be required to attend and support the client on family holidays (with another team member).
  • You will be required to attend hospital appointments, alongside a family member.
  • If you are a competent driver, you will drive our client to activities, appointments and even to and from school when needed.
  • You will report to the Team Leader with any concerns in the first instance.

Night Care Duties Expectations

  • You will be expected to be awake for the duration of the night and available to provide physical care and set up PEG feeds.
  • You will need to spend some of the night in the client's bedroom and then use the monitor when out of the room.
  • You will be required to complete all the client's laundry and any outstanding domestic tasks.
  • You will need to work alongside the family if they choose to have a physical presence during the shift.
  • You will take instruction from the family regarding the routines for the home and client's care needs during the night.
  • You will support with getting the client ready for school, ensuring any equipment is checked and accessible in the morning.
  • You will need to ensure the client's monitors are working and recording throughout the shift.
  • You will provide a handover to the day staff before completing your shift.
Rehabilitation Support Workers will be required to wear a uniform and on occasions specific PPE.

Hours and Pay Rates
This position is a Bank Position.

Shifts are typically 12-hour day and waking night shifts with potential for some evening and weekends, with flexibility to cover school holidays daytime hours.

Monday to Friday - 08:00 - 20:00 - £15.00 per hour

Saturday Sunday - 08:00 - 20:00 - £17.00 per hour

Bank Holiday - 08:00 - 20: times normal hourly rate


Waking Night
Monday to Thursday - 20:00 - 08:00 - £16.50 per hour

Friday to Sunday - 20:00 - 08:00 - £18.00 per hour

Bank Holiday - 20:00 - 08: times normal hourly rate
