Are you an effective communicator, able to work effectively and sensitively with a wide range of people? Do you have great attention to detail? Have you got experience of working in the waste sector or with a manual labour team? The varied nature of our work means it can be challenging as well as rewarding.

As a Health & Safety Business Partner you will join a busy team of enthusiastic people to help managers ensure the quality and consistency of health and safety performance within their area and across the council, this role will have a specific focus in our City Clean service.

About the role:


We are recruiting a Health & Safety Business Partner to work in our Corporate Health & Safety team, working with the council's waste services and workshop teams, Cityclean in Hollingdean.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to work with managers, employees and all other stakeholders to ensure the quality and consistency of health and safety performance both within their area of responsibility and across the council generally.


This exciting role needs someone with exceptional self-motivation and organisation skills, who is comfortable working in an often complex environment, is an influential communicator and has a proven track-record of delivering excellent Health & Safety management.

You will have an appropriate level of Health and Safety qualifications, ideally Nebosh Diploma or equivalent and experience of working in a Health and Safety role in a large organisation.

Good project management skills will be an advantage.

Additional information:

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
