We are Kier, one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure services, amongst others we are working on the IMT Contract, and we're looking for a Team Leader to join our Telecoms team in Guildford.


We are now recruiting for a Team Leader to join our Utilities team to work with emerging technologies to maintain 24,000 mobile phone mast installations.


What you'll be doing:

You will be responsible for ensuring the detailed test, inspection, and condition surveys of mobile phone mast installations.

In this role, you will be required to carry out inspections of towers, poles, and fall arrest systems as well as testing anchor points, earthing, and lightning protection systems.

You will be responsible for report writing and undertaking minor remedial tasks, along with ensuring that all work is undertaken in a safe and proper manner.


You will be responsible for ensuring that scheduled visits are carried out in accordance with the agreed program and completed to the expected standard.

You will also have an understanding and awareness of site safety, health & environmental issues.

In this role, it is vital for the timely completion of on-site reports and tasks.

You will be liaising with a number of stakeholders including but not limited to site providers, client staff, and helpdesk administration.

You will also be required to attend internal and external review meetings, ensure PUWER, vehicle, calibration, and training records are maintained, and assist in the mentoring and development of site operatives.


  • Previous site experience and comfortable working at height.
  • ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent is desirable but not necessary.
  • Understanding of basic construction and awareness of clientdefined specifications and an ability to interpret these on site
  • Knowledge of basic IT system
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills


Please note that a DBS / CRB check and clearance will be required for this role and there maybe periods where you would be required to stay away for part of the working week dependant on operational demand.
