The Data Quality Officer is responsible for supporting the Data Quality Manager in fulfilling their responsibilities in relation to implementing and maintaining the Trust's Data Improvement Strategy
The issue of quality of data and information pervades all aspects of the delivery of patient care and is the responsibility of everyone involved in delivering and supporting that care.
Ensuring that information held on the Trust's information systems is of the highest possible standard (accurate, consistent and timely) is crucial for legal, operational, clinical, patient safety and contractual purposes.
Assuring high-quality data for analysis is also vital to good decision-making in the organization.
The Data Quality Officer will support the Data Quality Manager to implement, monitor, investigate, validate and correct the quality of data on the Trust's patient-based systems.
The post-holder will undertake data investigation, monitoring, validation and correction in a timely and structured manner as directed by the Data Quality Manager.
This role will include data management issues associated with commissioning queries, Patient Demographic Service queries and support NHS number tracing.
To support the Data Quality Manager in fulfilling their responsibilities in relation to implementing and maintaining the Trust's Data Improvement Strategy by fulfilling the main responsibilities outlined.
The role can be less interesting at times, but all of the work is important.
It can be rewarding, knowing that you may have made a difference to the patient's experience and contributed towards the overall needs of the trust.
Team members learn how the systems work and can gain operational understanding by linking in with services to help achieve maximum performance.
To identify and diagnose issues associated with data management and data quality as part of the Data Improvement Strategy; and to support the DQ Manager in improving operational day-to-day data management and DQ assurance policies and procedures.
To support the DQ Manager in their responsibilities to maintain Trust-wide data quality policies and procedures and business process consistent with the Data Improvement Strategy, Trust systems, national requirements, workflows and operational practices.
To maintain an awareness of appropriate and comprehensive workflows used across to organisation; and to communicate with other stakeholders, including operations, to ensure these are followed in practice.
To support the Data Quality Manager in their responsibilities to conduct detailed analysis of complex data sets to identify root causes of data errors and inaccuracies and to make recommendations for targeted solutions and education programmes to resolve problems.
To provide expert advice, support and front-line coaching to others in relation to interpretation, adoption and operation of data quality legislation, directives and standards.
To provide the Data Quality Manager and wider stakeholders with information about thematic errors and omissions in patient data, provide feedback on new issues identified and advice on potential training implications in line with the Data Improvement Strategy.
To support the Data Quality Manager in their responsibilities to enable the Trust to achieve and maintain national data quality standards and use data to identify, investigate and report upon areas of suspected weak or poor data quality.
To support the Data Quality Manager in their responsibilities to address data management issues associated with commissioning queries, Patient Demographic Service queries and support NHS number tracing including liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required.
