Job Overview:


The Head of Chargeable Works is a key role within the Home Office/|Ministry of Justice contract, reporting to the Account Director.

The role will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of all client chargeable small works, PPM remedial works and reactive works that exceed the inclusive repair limit.


To deliver success, high levels of commercial awareness, client management and technical knowledge will be required, as well as strong process skills.

The role will involve an element of travel between operational sites and occasional overnight stays.


Main Duties
Maximisation of revenue opportunities ensuring the recovery of all chargeable costs in support of achieving the contract DSO targets.

Ensure that all aspects of Health and Safety are covered, and the correct documentation is held.

To co-ordinate and develop the contracted services in line with the business plans.

Ensuring works are delivered in compliance with the contract and governance arrangements.

Ensure that accurate work information is held on the agreed technology platforms and is updated in a timely manner.

Develop relationships with key customers to promote confidence in delivery and increase opportunities.


To provide governance using a common set of methods, processes and system tools & techniques for delivery and ensure their implementation.

To recognise and communicate potential resource deficiencies and programme risks and issues.

Identify risks and issues which may affect the successful delivery of the work and coordinate mitigation with the teams.


Support the contract Account Director in all aspects of communication related to the works, including the preparation of papers for client & Mitie approvals.

To ensure customer satisfaction by promoting the highest levels of service delivery, in accordance with Mitie quality standards.


Adhere to stated company policies and procedures and carry out all duties in a way which is consistent with, and which promotes Mitie values.

Be aware of the Business Continuity Plan for the part of the business you work in.

Qualifications and Experience:


_ Mandatory - MUST be able to obtain National Security Vetting SC Clearance._
Experience in delivery of small works and remedial works on a large FM estate.

A good understanding of Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators.

Experience in a previous role demonstrating organisation and teamwork abilities.

Ability to work in a team as well as autonomously to a high level of accuracy.

Ability to meet deadlines, targets, and schedules.

Commercially and analytically competent (LEAN experience).

Strong client/stakeholder influencing skills.

Analytical approach to using data to enhance business performance.

IT literate in MS Office and systems management software.

Experience in the use of CAFM systems (Maximo) is essential.

Good decision maker.

Flexible and receptiveness to change.

Good planning and organisational skills.

Excellent communication and people skills.

Preferably degree qualified in a Construction Discipline (although not essential).

Membership of a construction related institute e.g. RICS/CIOB/RIBA/CIBSE/MIET or APM Membership preferable.

IOSH or CITB qualification.

Previous experience in a senior related role.
