Mechanical Technician

Department:
Engineering / Machine shop

Reports to:
Engineering Manager

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Mechanical Technician will manufacture Jigs and production parts in adherence to specification in line with company processes and quality standards and response to customer demand.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manufacture Production components and jigs.
Maintain a safe working environment ensuring that all company and regulatory standards are always achieved.
Contribute to continuous improvement through the identification, reporting and resolution of Non-Conformance to products and materials
Carry out manual/CNC machining turning (sliding head), milling and surface grinding
Perform sub assembly and bench fitting of precision tools
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Make fixtures and other workholding devices and tools as appropriate
Full mechanical inspection with the aid of an CMM
Program CNC machines and the use of CAD/CAM systems

QUALIFICATIONS

Has completed a formal apprenticeship in a "Toolmaking" or "Fitter / Turner" discipline or has experience in a similar role.

Knowledge of CNC Machining Required

ONC - HNC in mechanical engineering advantageous.

EXPERIENCE
Time served or with a minimum of five years experience working in an engineering environment.

To be competent in the use of engineering machinery such as: - Milling machines, Lathes, Surface grinders, and CNC machines including sliding head.

Capable of programming CNC machines through MDI or using CAD/CAM

Background in Inspection.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS
The knowledge of the following would also be an advantage:

Use of Cad/Cam systems (Alphacam) (DelcaM/Featurecam) (Fusion 360)

Computer Literate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Engineering Production environment Programming and operating manual/CNC machines, Inspection and working on bench-based activities.

Salary:
£32,000.00 per year
