Responsible to:
Comics Youth CIC's Management Team
Within _
Graphic Medicine_, they will provide comics focused sessions for chronically and/or terminally ill young people aged 8-18 via the delivery of ward-based or online graphic narrative sessions.
Within _
Turn the Page_, they will provide comics focused social prescription activities for young people aged 16-25 who experience anxiety/and or depression.
The post holder will develop resources and session plans for young people and deliver a mix of 1-2-1 and group work via Microsoft teams or face-to-face.
60% of the role will entail direct youth work; 20% will entail illustration work and 20% admin and development work (EG-recruitment).
Background:
Comics Youth CIC is an innovative non-profit that delivers comics-based literacy and wellbeing projects for disadvantaged children and young people aged 8-25 within Merseyside and the wider Knowsley Borough.
The overall ethos of the organisation is to break down participation barriers for marginalised groups including looked after children, LGBTQIA young people, global majority youth, care leavers, young carers and young people experiencing complex mental ill health within the Liverpool City Region to make, create and publish comic books about salient community issues.

£22.5k per annum
POSITION GUIDE:
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Delivery of comics focused art sessions for young people aged 818 through the delivery of ward based and digital (Microsoft teams and group work for young people who access Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
- Delivery of comics focused comics and zine sessions for young adults who experience anxiety/and or depression via 121 sessions.
- Support project staff to deliver x8 week Zinester Cohorts within external community venues across the city.
- To ensure the delivery of a balanced blended learning of digital and IRL programmes across daytime, evening and weekends that will challenge, stimulate, and provide opportunities for young people to 'flourish from the margins of society'.
- Teach and demonstrate art and literacy techniques to make varied styles of comics, zines, and creative art pieces through onetoone and group workshops.
- To ensure that there is an appropriate plan of support in place for each young person which is clearly documented and evaluated.
- Capture young people's stories and develop Comic art pages regarding their lived experiences.
- To Undertake any other duties and reasonable requests that are in keeping with the nature of this post. Eg
EXPERIENCE

Illustration skills, both digital and hand drawn
E:
- Experienced level of using Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, in particular InDesign and Photoshop

- Basic experience of producing illustrations and documents for both print and digital

- Knowledge and understanding of Comics (theory and interest in the genre)

- IT Literacy skills: organisational and time management skills together with an ability to relate to people at all levels
