Recent strategic developments across the STP are seeing the creation of a single integrated medical team for Cardiology working across the three acute sites.

The vision for this larger single team will facilitate cross cover, support increased sub-specialisation and individual job plans in line with Royal College Guidance.

The Team at MEHT currently provides the Cardiology Service for Mid Essex.

We are looking for applicants with a wide experience in cardiology.

Facilities at the MEHT include a dedicated Angio-Catheter Suite for Inpatient and outpatients Diagnostic Angiograms and Brady Pacemaker implantations, the Cardiac Centre is the non-invasive unit where a full range of investigations are performed including Trans-Oesophageal Echocardiography, Stress Echo, exercise Testing, Ambulatory ECG.

As our Consultant you will participate in the Consultant of the Week (COW) rota (1 in 8) at the Basildon site.

The COW rota commenced in January 2020, providing 7-day consultant cover for patients admitted to James MacKenzie Ward and patients transferred from the MEHT site.

You will attend general Cardiology clinics (5 new and 3 follow-up patients), supervise Special Echocardiogram lists (Exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography) and contribute to the daily Consultant ward round at MEHT (Consultant of the day, COD).

Firm Structure at MEHT:

4 Full time Substantive Consultants, 3 further Consutlants who will undertake some clinical activities on the Broomfield site. All are supported by Middle Grade doctors, a nurse liaison, CNS's and highly skilled Physiologists.
