We have an exciting opportunity to join us a Unit Ward Clerk on the Bronte Unit, based at Scarborough Hospital.


As a Ward Clerk, the successful applicant will provide clerical support to the clinical staff based on the unit working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, to provide a professional and pro-active service.


Interested applicants must have excellent communication skills, be a good team player and enjoy meeting and working with the public.

Basic computer skills are also a requirement for the job and NHS experience would be an advantage, however, full training will be given to the successful applicant on use of the hospital computer systems.

You must be effective in prioritising workloads with a flexible and patient-centred approach.

You must have the proven ability to work independently using your own initiative, as well as part of a team.


Please note:

the hours of work for this post will be split over 3 days (one 6 hour shift and two 5 hour shifts).

This post is based within the admin office which is located further down the corridor from the Bronte unit, and is not directly located within the treatment unit itself.


To act as Unit Receptionist whilst providing clerical support to clinical staff based on the Unit, including the receipt and resolution, where possible, of enquiries from patients, visitors and staff.

Scanning of patient pathways onto CPD, checking discharge letters have been verified and printed.


Review patient ward care plan and ensure all pathways are current, old ones are scanned and destroyed as per trust policies required, Input data to relevant computerised databases, and interrogate such databases for standard information on both a regular and ad-hoc basis.

Ensure that both Trust and local Policies and Procedures are followed as necessary to own work.

Where appropriate, contribute to the induction of new or less experienced staff.

Wherever necessary, participate in Trust, Directorate or Ward/Unit surveys relating to own or patient/visitor experiences.
