Job description:

Data analyst


The Data Analyst will be comfortable handling and analysing large quantities of data, whilst understanding business process and reporting requirements - particularly in relation to construction processes and performance.

They will also support the ongoingdevelopment and maintenance of the Murphy Microsoft Azure Data & Analytics platform.


What you will be doing

  • Working closely with business reporting stakeholders to understanding reporting and analytical requirements to acquire and present relevant datasets.
  • Handle large and complex datasets from construction centric systems e.g. field data capture tools, planning and scheduling, estimating, labour and resourcing, design management and finance;
  • Support, when required with the production and management of financial reporting, as it relates to construction from Dynamics365 Finance and Operations.
  • Interacting with Key Systems owners and managers to facilitate data acquisition.
  • Liaise with 3rd party consultants to support the ongoing build of the data & analytics platform.
  • Verify the integrity of extracted data, including schema, format, checksum/hashing.
  • Implement information security best practices businesswide in order to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of company data, systems and infrastructure.
  • Help establish good working practices for the work delivered and SQL environments (dev/test/production), documented appropriately.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate documentation is produced and maintained for the Data & Analytics platform, ensuring agreed Murphy best practices and standards are followed.
  • Drive knowledge and skills transfer across the IT team around Data & Analytics.
  • Provide support to the IT Core Team were deemed critical by the IT Director or Head of IT Business Solutions.
  • Continuously seek to improve all IT services.
  • Build effective relationships with all relevant stakeholders
  • Provide support and guidance to other IT team members
  • Ad hoc activities as deemed appropriate by the Head of IT Business Solutions

Who we are looking for

  • Previous experience of duties defined in "Key Responsibilities & Duties section" (min 23 years).
  • Detailed knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft PowerBI.
  • Demonstrable experience with Visual Studio and Azure DevOps toolsets.
  • Knowledge of system and data structures in Dynamics365 Finance and Operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Azure Data Factories, Data Lake and Databricks, SQL and PowerBI.
  • Working knowledge of ETL and data ingestion (API knowledge).
  • ITIL Foundation.
